Due to space allowance and press deadlien constraints with the March 27 Wright County Journal, the following Norwood R-I School Board candidate profiles were unable to be printed. We apologize  for the inability to publish them.

Norwood R-I School Board (three year term)

Candidate: Rick Bruffett

My name is Rick Bruffett and I’m running for Norwood R-1 School Board. I grew up in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School in 1981. My mom, dad, aunts, uncles, siblings, and son are all graduates of Norwood High School. My daughter, Kylee, is a senior at Norwood and will be graduating in May.

I am married to Tina, and we have three children and five grandchildren. We are members and attend Mansfield First Assembly of God Church. I also serve as president of the Norwood Community Betterment Club and on the Norwood Housing Authority board as chairman. I am a funeral director and currently work for Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

  • My vision for this position is to be able to uphold moral values in every decision made concerning the school, staff, and students. We have a great school system and I want to make sure we maintain that. I am very community oriented, and the school is a very important part of the community. I would like to see the community and the school work together, making Norwood a great place to live and where you want your children to go to school.
  • I was raised on a dairy farm north of Norwood, my family is from Norwood, and my great-grandfather owned a shoe shop in Norwood, so Norwood is home to me. My intention is to make the best decisions to keep a great school system and make improvements when and where necessary. I am a good listener and I want to hear what concerns people in the district may have. I want to be able to bring those concerns to the other board members and to discuss them and be able to come up with the best possible solutions to rectify them.
  • Like I said before, I think we have a great school system, but I know there are always areas where we can improve. I want to see, as a school and community, what we have to offer to be able to hire and obtain great teachers and administrators for our system. We have great teachers and administrators now, but I want to make sure that we have what it takes to keep them. When we have a position open, I want Norwood School to be a place where people want to come to work and be proud to be part of the system. It’s aways a good day to be a Pirate! Thank you for your vote.
