Posted

On April 4, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a motor vehicle accident just south of AE highway in Eastern Douglas County. At the time of the call, the reporting parties advised that they had seen flashlights in the wooded area where the vehicle went off the road. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was advised of this possible vehicle accident. Within 30 minutes, the department received a call regarding a vehicle leaving a driveway and the motion lights being activated in her garage.  The incident was within the same area. The reporting party discovered her Chevy Camaro had been stolen from her garage. Deputy Aaron Box and the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrived in area.

After midnight on the 5th, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received information that the Chevy Camaro had been sighted in the Highway N area. The Sheriff’s Office received further information that the vehicle was at a residence and the male individual with the vehicle advised he had a flat tire.  That reporting party was able to provide the license plate on the Camaro, which matched the identifiers provided for the stolen Camaro; along with it matching the vehicle description.

Deputy Box responded to the area and located the vehicle and the male individual that had been driving the vehicle. Upon arresting the suspect, Deputy Box located a box in the pocket of the male individual.

Inside was 7.51 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Inside his wallet was 12 small clear unused Ziploc baggies. A ‘snorting straw’ was also located which field tested positive for methamphetamine.  The suspect claimed the vehicle belonged to a family member and believed that the house he stole the Camaro from was “Grandma’s house.”

Alexander Hall, age 31, of Mansfield, was transported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department and placed on a 24-hour hold. A Douglas County warrant has since been obtained. The charges are first degree burglary, stealing a motor vehicle/watercraft/aircraft, first degree property damage to motor vehicle with intent to steal, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-amphetamine or methamphetamine. Bond was Set at $25,000 cash with bond conditions. A Probation and Parole warrant was obtained.
