Clyde Wayne Forbes

Clyde Wayne Forbes, son of the late William Burley and Gladys (Campbell) Forbes, was born Aug. 30, 1936, in Mountain Grove, in Texas County and departed this life May 14, 2020, at 83 years of age. Clyde attended Stubbs country school and Mountain Grove High School. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School with the Class of 1954. Following graduation, Clyde worked on the family farm before enlisting in the United States Army, where he worked in the Motor Pool. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to the family farm. Clyde married Dixie Fields. One daughter was born to this union, Karen Leigh Forbes. Clyde moved to High Ridge to work for Chrysler Corporation in 1967.  Later, he married Edna Dodson. Two sons were born to this union, Daniel Forbes and Jason Wayne Forbes. Clyde also shared two step-children with Edna, Lori and Bobby Pool. Clyde was a member of the United Auto Workers Local No. 136. He retired in 2001 with 34 years of employment at Chrysler Corporation. After retirement, Clyde returned to the family farm where he maintained a beef herd. In his younger years, Clyde was a farmer and an avid quail hunter who had good dogs.  Besides his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by four siblings, Francis Forbes, Zetta Mae Trautman, Mary Worrel, Joann Webb and Dixie Hutchinson. He is survived by his three children, Karen McCain (Jeff), of Henryville, Ind.; Dan Forbes (Dana), of Cedar Hill; and Jason Forbes (Charlotte), of Mountain Grove; two step-children, Lori Pool and Bobby Pool, both of Cedar Hill; eight grandchildren, Crystal Helms, Brandon Forbes, Burley Forbes, Trisha, Jason, Bobby, Zachary and Nikki; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Day; three brothers, Ted Forbes, John Forbes and Bob Forbes; one sister, Jean Brewer; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him. Visitation for Clyde Forbes was held Monday, May 18, 2020, from 5-7 p.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Justin DeVries officiating. Song selections were “Amazing Grace,” “Even Though I’m Leaving,” “That’s My Job” and “When I Get Where I’m Going.” Mark Forbes, Doug Forbes, Bobby Pool, Craig Forbes, Dalton Rein and Bob Rein served as pallbearers. Burial was in Stubbs Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.  Memorial contributions may be made to Stubbs Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
