Alma Jean Littrell

Alma Jean Littrell, daughter of the late George Washington and Ada (Long) Thornhill, was born March 16, 1928, in Mountain Grove, and passed away June 9, 2020, at Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove. She was 92 years, 2 months and 24 days of age. Jean grew up in Mountain Grove and graduated from Mountain Grove High School. She married Arthur Ralph Littrell on Dec. 29, 1948, in Mexico, Mo. Two children were born to this union, George Kenny and Carol. She and Ralph lived in several places throughout the United States because of his career. Jean worked as an in-home caregiver for Missouri Home Health and later became a supervisor. She attended First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove as long as her health permitted. In later years, Jean enjoyed traveling with her sisters. She also enjoyed making beautiful quilts.

Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 16, 1984; two brothers, Lee and Frankie Thornhill; three sisters, Pauline Allen, Glenda Cooper and Donna Fletcher; four brothers-in-law, Earl Atchison, Pritchard Peterson, Norman Allen and Charlie Cooper; and one sister-in-law, Beatrice Thornhill. She is survived by one son, George Kenny Littrell, of Mountain Grove; one daughter, Carol Charlesworth, of Saratoga Springs, Utah; two sisters, Dorine Peterson and Nola Faye Atchison, both of Mountain Grove; one brother-in-law, Darrell Fletcher; one sister-in-law, Laura Thornhill; three grandchildren, Erin, Dana and Allison; four great-grandchildren, Rushelle, Cory, Luke and Hailey; two great-great-grandchildren, Steven and Miles; and other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her. Funeral services for Alma Jean Littrell were held Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Oliver officiating. Song selections were “Amazing Grace,” “In The Garden” and “Beulah Land” sung by Joe Golden with Marcia Stumpff serving as pianist. Ed Peterson, Darrell Fletcher, Anthony Stoddard-Peterson, Nathan Yarger, Zachary Stumpff, Malcolm Kemper, Glen Burch and Steve Hansen served as pallbearers. Robin Clawson, Luke Clawson and Brian Fredrick served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in Mountain Valley Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in care of the funeral home.
