Archers shine in recent area tournaments
Wright County’s archery programs recently wrapped up their regular season. State qualifiers from each district will compete in either the Missouri State Bullseye Tournament or Missouri State 3D Tournament slated for March 19-22 in Branson.
Mountain Grove
Mountain Grove hosted their final tournaments of the season on March 1.
Top shooters in the bullseye event included Maylee Maloney, who had a 282 for the first place team.
Maylee was No. 1 out of 30 high school archers and No. 2 out of a total of 84 girls archers.
Hayden Akers had the No. 1 overall boys score of 279.
Other top scores came from Chloe Slagle (277), Damien LaFranchise (275), Kai English (273), Mason Rodgers (272), Kyler Kumpula (270), Ashley McGowan (267), Kandi Alessi (267), Taylor Garner (266), Karena Alessi (264), Olivia English (259), Slade Rodgers (258), Josiah Schott (254) and Dayden Hensley (253).
Akers shot a 289 in the 3D tournament to take first out of 114 boys as the team also took first place.
Other top scores came from LaFranchise (277), Garner (272), Maloney (269), Haylena Emery (264), Gage Yarger (261), Slagle (260), Kandi Alessi (260), Kumpula (259), Kai English (257), Karena Alessi (257), Slade Rodgers (253), Mason Rodgers (252) and Olivia English (251).
As for the Middle School, Kenzie Oliphant shot a 267 in the bullseye tournament. Other top scores came from Remi Lathrom (267), Natalie Atchison (258) and Jack Tyrrell (252).
Lathrom shot a 270 for the second best score of 54 archers in the 3D tournament.
Other top scores included Atchison (266), Tyrrell (254) and Adele English (252).
Norwood
The Norwood archery program has been busy during a recent two-week stretch.
In the Mountain Grove bullseye tournament, MaciMae Pridemore was seventh overall for girls with a 273.
Other top scores came from Conner Jonas (272), Taylor Greenfield(271), Bradly Allen (264), Lane Watkins (263), Spencer Perl (256), Jackson Venable (253) and Dinasha Griffin (253).
In 3D in Mountain Grove, Pridemore shot a 281 for second place among girls out of 83 archers.
Other top archers included Greenfield (278), Jonas (275), Bradly Allen (268), Perl (262), Watkins (258), Alyssa Allen (253) and Christopher Allen (250).
In the Conway Shootout, Pridemore’s 274 led the team. Other top scores include Bradly Allen (271), Perl (253) and Christopher Allen (252).
In 3D, Pridemore’s 280 was first place among 52 girls archers.
Other top archers included Bradly Allen (264), Chanse Sanders (264) and Perl (263).
At the Marionville Comets Shootout, Sanders shot a 288 for first place out of 71 boys archers.
Greenfield was first place out of 46 girls archers with a 282.
Other top scores came from Jacob Brixey (279), Christopher Allen (268), Bradly Allen (265) and Lane Watkins (259).
As for 3D, Brixey was first place with an astounding 291.
Other top archers were Greenfield (281), Sanders (279) Bradly Allen (257), Lane Watkins (251) and Christopher Allen (250).
Mansfield
In the Mountain Grove bullseye tournament, Colton Wilson shot a state-qualifying score of 277, which was the third best score out of 117 boys archers.
Cody Connell shot a 252 in the event.
Wilson led Mansfield with a 274 in the 3D tournament.
As for Mansfield Junior High, Braxton Dugger had the best score in the bullseye for his team with a 254. Barrett Kilgore had his team’s top 3D score of 252.
Manes R-V
Manes R-V archers were led by Layne O’Neal’s 267 for 15th place out of 105 boysarchers in the Conway 3D event. Braidyn Osborne shot a 250.
In the Conway Shootout, O’Neal led the way with a 268.
Skyline R-II
In the Mountain Grove bullseye tournament, Railynn Dixon shot a 263 and Paige Jonas shot a 262 to lead the way for Skyline R-II.
Dixon shot a 263 in the 3D tournament to place fifth out of 42 other middle school archers.
