Melissa Marie Holt

Melissa Marie Holt was born on Sep. 18, 1970, in Mendocino, Calif. She departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father on July 16, 2026, at the age of 55. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, L.D. Gott, and her stepfather, Junior Smith.
She is survived by her mother, Francis Smith; her granddaughter, Wynter Marie Holt; her stepsons, RC and Danny Holt, of Mountain Grove; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and numerous other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her. Melissa was a graduate of Mountain Grove High School. She earned her bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Drury University, which allowed her to pursue her passion for helping others. Throughout her career, Melissa served as a nursing assistant in several Missouri nursing homes and held a variety of other positions. For the past decade, she was employed by the State of Missouri, helping her mother operate their Missouri State Home Facility for the Elderly. Melissa was exceptionally intelligent and talented, and she applied herself fully to her education and her work. Her caring nature and desire to help others touched many lives. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Pickles. Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, July 22 at the funeral chapel. Interment was in the Lone Star Cemetery at Mountain Grove under the direction of Elliott Gentry Carder Funeral Home of Cabool. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
