Gary Frederick Douglas, of Seymour, was born June 9, 1948, to Theodore and Mildred Goss Douglas. He passed away Dec. 4, 2025, at Glendale Gardens Nursing Home, Springfield. He was 77 years, 5 months and 25 days old. He attended Mansfield School, graduating with the Class of 1967. Following graduation, he worked several years for Carroll and Mary Lee Rodgers in their furniture store. He later worked at Hutchens Industries until his retirement in 2008. He worked several years with Rudolph Auction Service, which he enjoyed immensely. In recent years, he assisted other auction agencies in distributing ads to other towns. He enjoyed helping on the farm of his long-time friend Jimmy Horn, whom he considered more like a brother. He considered Jim's children, Michelle, Lacey, McKayla and Dustin as nieces and nephews. He took great pride in his niece, Katrinia Douglas and nephews, Michael Douglas and Eric Douglas. His true delight was in the great nephews and nieces, Isaiah, Lily, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, Jimmy, Dakota and Chelsey. He loved his grea-great niece Baylor and enjoyed seeing her as often as possible.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Granny Minnie Goss, whom he lived with until her passing, and his brother Phillip. He is survived by his brother, Harold, and wife Johnna; close friends, Tom and Nancy Porter, and Delores Turner; many other friends and relatives. He had affirmed to a number of people that he was ready to meet Jesus, so we have the blessed hope of meeting him again when we all get to Heaven.
II Corinthians 5:8-“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
Cremation service is by Holden Cremation, Sparta, a celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
