Donna Delores Hicks

Donna Delores Hicks, daughter of the late Everett and Rachel Emily “Jewel” (Willhite) Alumbaugh, was born April 25, 1942, in Mountain Grove, and passed away Feb. 1, 2025, at her home in Mountain Grove, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 82 years, 9 months and 7 days of age. Delores married the love of her life, Edgar “Leroy” Hicks on March 27, 1959. They had a love story that everyone desires to have and shared 61 and a half years together before he passed away in September of 2020. Delores was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She greatly enjoyed singings, spending time in her yard and garden, and hosting family get-togethers.
Besides her parents and her husband, Delores was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tina Hicks; one son, Sam Hicks; and one sister, Lois Peel She is survived by one son, Randy and Cathy Hicks, of Manes; one daughter, Sandi and Joe Barnes, of Cabool; nine grandchildren, Mandy and Dustin Ellis, of Graff; Bethany and Kevin Hicks, of Elkton, Tenn.; Kimberly and Justin Noel, of Marshfield; Joel and Lindsey Hicks, of Elkton, Tenn.; Rachel Danielle and RJ Emery, of Mountain Grove; Rachel Elaine Hicks, of Springfield; Hali Jo Evans, Jonie and Aaron Harris, and Chase and Keisha Barnes, all of Cabool; 18 great-grandchildren, Trenton Noel, Haylena Emery, Lane Hicks, Brookelyn Evans, Wyatt Barnes, Jaxen Hicks, Tucker Hicks, Jaben Hicks, Kylan Barnes, Brayden Emery, Kenan Barnes, Phoebe Barnes, Imber Barnes, Jacob Ellis, Watson Evans, Walker Ellis, Noah Ellis, Colton Emery, and a great-granddaughter on the way; one brother, Gary and Sandy Alumbaugh, of Mountain Grove; one sister, Louise Alumbaugh, of Hartville; and a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly. A visitation for Delores Hicks was held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. with the Funeral Service following at 11 a.m. at the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home in Mountain Grove with Bro. Greg Thompson officiating. Special songs were, “Thank You For The Blessings,” “The Lighthouse” and “Changing Mountain Tops.” The songs were sung by James and Lena Rogers accompanied by Judy Bradshaw on the piano.
