Pirates season ends in Summit semis
The Norwood Pirates’ baseball season came to an end in the semifinals recently of the Summit Conference Tournament as they finished the fall with a 5-6 overall record.
Norwood did open the tournament with a big 5-0 shutout victory over Fordand behind the arm of Cooper Vaughan.
Cooper tossed a complete game shutout and gave up four hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.
Pete McCune led the Pirates with two hits, two RBIs and one run scored; Gary Williams added one RBI and one run scored; Brock Vaughan had one RBI; Noah Drake scored twice; while Laken Coatney scored one run.
Norwood went on to lose to rival Hartville, 7-3, in the semifinals of the tournament. (Information from that contest is in the Hartville article.)
