Pirates beat Tigers for Summit victory
The Norwood Pirates’ basketball team moved their record to 16-1 after traveling to Seymour and leaving with a 67-55 victory to remain undefeated in the Summit Conference.
The loss was the just the third for the Tigers this season.
Norwood took control early as Cooper Vaughan scored 12 of his team’s 16 points.
Up five, Cooper Vaughan added another eight points while Carder Kelly added five points to help the Pirates take a 33-30 lead at halftime.
Gunner Bradshaw scored seven of the Pirates’ 11 points in the third quarter to push the lead to five points.
In the final frame, seven different Pirates scored points as the Pirates would hold on late for a 12-point win.
Cooper Vaughan scored a team-high 26 points; Gunner Bradshaw had 13; Peyton McDaris scored nine points; Noah Drake had eight points; Kelly had seven; while both Gary Williams and Pierce Lawson scored two points.
