Norwood’s Chase Blakey honored by Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

Norwood’s Chase Blakey accepts the Diamond 9 Award from Executive Vice President Kari Norris, of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

Norwood’s Chase Blakey was officially a Diamond 9 honoree at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Luncheon held on May 19 at the Wilson Logistics Arena in Springfield.
Blakey was joined by fellow teammates, coaches and family as he received the prestigious honor.
According to information from the HOF, Blakey was a pitcher and infielder for the Pirates in the early 2000s.
He earned All-State honors in 2002, was named All-District twice and earned All-Summit Conference honors three times.
Blakey’s efforts helped Norwood to a 94-29 record in his four seasons while playing for head coach Kevin Drake.
He helped the 2000 squad reach the Final Four and helped the Pirates win district championships in back-to-back seasons.
As a pitcher, he compiled a 29-5 record with a sub 2.50 ERA. He averaged 12 strikeouts per game in 2002.
Blakey would eventually play at Evangel University and coached youth baseball for 10 seasons.
His career also includes three years with the Springfield Mavericks, two years with the Midwest Nationals and working the broadcast of Logan-Rogersville games for ofur seasons.
Diamond 9 recognizes former All-State baseball and softball players from Missouri high schools that earned multiple letters for a Missouri college or made positive contributions to the game.
