Lady Pirates struggle in Marshfield tourney

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers’ basketball team won just one of their three contests in the Marshfield Tip-Off Tournament.
Their lone win was a 51-19 thrashing of Springfield Central. A 17-5 second quarter run and a 13-0 shutout in the third quarter helped the Lady Panthers pull away for a win.
Stella Benson had 19 points; Rowen Kelly seven; both Sadie Schober and Marli Melton had six; Hadley Driskill and Briley Curtiss each had four; Cassidy Behrendsen had two points; and Kaylee Virtue had one point.
In the first round, the Lady Panthers lost to a good Miller team, 74-40. Schober finished with 21 points; Behrendsen had three; Curtiss and Melton each added four; Kelly and Benson each had two points; while Virtue scored one point.
The Lady Panthers ended the tournament with a tough 74-25 loss to West Plains.
Schober had 10t points; Benson scored seven points; Melton added five; and Virtue had two points.
