Suspects takes law enforcement from Camp Branch to Cedar Gap

A suspect fleeing police throughout Wright County on June 2 is in custody.

According to a Wright County Sheriff’s Office report, Corporal Page observed a vehicle at the Camp Branch access with no license plates at around 8 a.m.

Upon approaching the vehicle, he observed a male subject who appeared to be sleeping.

Contact was made with the driver, who then gave Corporal Page a fake name.

At that time, the driver fled the scene and Corporal Page pursued the vehicle eastbound on Highway 38.

The pursuit then continued south on Highway E before going eastbound on Highway N. Mountain Grove officers set up stop sticks on Highway N, but the vehicle went around them and attempted to strike the officer.

The pursuit continued through the City of Mountain Grove and then down Business Highway 60 to Dunn.

The vehicle then went westbound on Highway 60 and traveled eventually through Mansfield, where the vehicle would travel onto eastbound Highway 60 into oncoming traffic.

The vehicle came to a stop at Cedar Gap, where the driver fled on foot and was captured a short time later. 

A search of the vehicle was conducted where suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located. 

The driver, identified as Jason Jones, 37, of Cape Girardeau, was arrested and transported to Wright County Jail.

On June 3, a no bond warrant was issued. Jones was charged with assault in the first degree or attempt (serious physical injury or special victim), armed criminal action, possession of a controlled substance, along with resisting arrest/detention/or stop by fleeing. 

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
