Mountain Grove Panthers’ baseball streak at four

After starting the season with a pair of losses, the Mountain Grove Panthers’ baseball team has started putting some things together as they are now on a four-game winning streak.
They opened the week by traveling to St. James and leaving with a dominating 15-2 victory.
Mountain Grove scored 10 runs in their final two at-bats to pull away for good.
Garrett Hutsell had a monster day with five RBIs and three runs scored while Trace Harker was right with him with four hits, five RBIs and two runs scored.
Brayden Haughey had one RBI and scored three times while Eli Golden had one RBI and scored one run. Kaden Murphy scored three times in the win.
On the mound, Haughey tossed four and two-thirds innings of shutout ball and gave up three hits with 10 strikeouts and three walks.
Briar Parsons tossed two and a third innings of shutout ball for the Panthers and gave up one hit with four strikeouts and one walk.
Two days later, they crushed Greenwood, 11-0.
A seven-run fourth inning helped the Panthers pull away for good.
Sam Peterson, Hutsell and Haughey each had one RBI and scored two times; Murphy had one RBI and one run scored; while Harker and Brett Gardner each added one RBI.
Harker tossed five scoreless innings and gave up one hit with nine strikeouts and two walks.
On Saturday, March 29, the Mountain Grove Panthers traveled to Springfield for a doubleheader that lasted into the night.
They first defeated Reeds Spring, 5-3, in the ninth inning with the help of Hutsell’s two-RBI single.
Hutsell and Golden both had two RBIs while Haughey scored two runs.
Parsons tossed five and two-thirds innings of shutout ball and gave up three hits with eight strikeouts and four walks.
Peterson tossed three innings and gave up one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
Skip Thompson tossed a third of an inning and had one strikeout.
Haughey ended the long day with what ended up being a walk-off grand slam to lift the Panthers to a 15-5 win over New Covenant in a game called due to no lighting.
Haughey had five hits, six RBIs and four runs scored in his monster effort.
Murphy had two RBIs and scored three times; Golden had two RBIs and one run scored; Peterson and Brett Gardner had one RBI and scored twice; Kale Gardner had one RBI and one run scored; while Destin Unger scored two runs.
Thompson tossed three innings for the Panthers and gave up two earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
Taylor Garner tossed three innings and gave up one earned run on no hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
