Mansfield track and field shines at recent area meets

Mansfield’s track and field program continues to make noise this season as they have earned several top eight finishes in recent meets.
Chadwick Invitational
The Lady Lions won four events at the Chadwick Invitational.
Faith Clark won the 800 meters (2:35.29) and 1,600 meters (5:41.43).
Cali Lemons won the 100-meter hurdles (17.23) and the 300-meter hurdles (53.37). Meanwhile, the 4x100-meter relay team was third (49.69).
The boys squad won an event when Nolyn Corder took first place in the 1,600 meters wit a time of 4:41.33.
Malachi Ussery was second in the 200 meters (24.22), the 300-meter hurdles (45.08) and the long jump (6.38 meters).
Riley Pierson placed sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (49.28).
Braxton Bolfing was third in the 400 meters with a time of 57.34 seconds.
Michael Ivy added an eighth place finish in the 800 meters (2:30.80).

Invitational at
Hillcrest
In an even featuring the boys at the Jim Vaughan Invitational at Hillcrest, the Lions were not able to earn any team points.
Fisher Croney had the best finish, which was ninth in the high jump (1.83 meters).
Ussery was 10th in the long jump (6.57 meters).
Spokane Classic
In the Spokane Classic, Clark won the 400 meters (1:03.53) and the 800 meters (2:37.78). Cheyann Price was eighth in the 800 (3:23.95).
Meanwhile, Lemons won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.80 seconds and was second in the 300-meter hurdles (52.06).
The 4x200-meter relay team was second (2:02.09) and the 4x100-meter relay team was fifth (1:01.06).
Devynn Ball took sixth place in the 200 (31.39).
Ussery won the long jump with a leap of 6.2 meters. He was also second in the 100 (11.48) and third in the 300-meter hurdles (44.82).
Corder won the 3,200 meter race with a time of 10:12.37.
Pierson placed sixth in the long jump (5.27 meters) and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles (49.09).
Bolfing placed third in the 400 meters (57.13) while Ivey was fifth in the 800 meters (2:31.36).
The 4x400-meter relay team was third with a time of 3:51.41.
