Mansfield Lady Lions’ softball wins some hardware

The Mansfield Lady Lions’ softball team left this past weekend’s Conway Tournament with some hardware after winning two of their three contests for a third place finish.
A 19-hit attack lifted the Lady Lions to a 16-7 win over Stoutland as they clinched the third place finish.
Addie Jones had five hits, two RBIs and scored three times; Kayley Kingery tallied four hits, one RBI and scored four times; Carley Young had three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored; Brooklyn Dugger and Rylee Dixon had two RBIs and one run scored; Emma Matney and Madisyn Bennett both had two RBIs; Mylee Sullivan had one RBI and scored three runs; while Kiki Garrison had one RB and scored twice.
On the mound, Dugger, tossed four innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with one strikeout. Jones tossed three innings and gave up three earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and five walks.
On Friday, the Lady Lions scored three runs in their final at-bat to defeat Hollister, 14-11. Young had a big day with two hits, five RBIs and one run scored. Kingery added three hits, one RBI and three runs scored; Laikyn Ball had one RBI and scored three times; Jones added two RBIs and two runs scored; Matney had one RBI and scored twice; Garrison scored two runs; and Dugger had one RBI and one run scored. Bennett also had one RBI.
Jones tossed four innings and gave up six earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and eight walks.
Mansfield did fall in the tournament to Licking, 13-3.
Jones had two RBIs and Sullivan had one RBI while Ball scored twice and Bennett scored one run.

Mansfield opened their week with a disappointing 19-1 loss to Fordland in Summit Conference action.
Kingery had the team’s lone RBI while Ball scored the only run.
On the mound, Dugger gave up 10 earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and five walks in one and a third innings of work. Jones tossed two-thirds of an inning and gave up five earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
Mansfield also lost a slug fest with Bakersfield, 16-13, in spite of the offense tallying 20 hits.
Young had four hits, two RBIs and one run scored; Kingery had four hits, one RBI and three runs scored; Jones added three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored; Garrison tallied three hit,s three RBIs and one run scored; Ball had two RBIs and one run scored; Matney added one RBI and scored twice; while Sullivan had one RBI and one run scored.
Jones tossed four and a third innings, giving up four earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and 10 walks.
