Lady Lions drop Summit battle with Fordland

The Mansfield Lady Lions had the tough task of driving to Fordland on Jan. 13 to take on a solid Fordland Lady Eagles team, one of the top teams in the Summit Conference. They battled tough at parts of the contest, but were on the wrong side of a 43-29 defeat. Cali Lemons made a 3-pointer in the first quarter, but her team scored just four points in the frame. Fordland’s defense would hold Mansfield to just nine total points in the next two quarters to go up 37-13.
In the fourth quarter, Kayley Kingery hit a pair of 3-pointers in a 16-point frame, but the Lady Lions were unable to complete a big rally.
Elly Williams scored a team-high nine points; Kingery added six; both Addie Jones and Lemons had four points; while both Mylee Sullivan and Chloe Napier scored three points. (Information from Mansfield’s 63-52 win over Bradleyville was not available by press time.)
