Man tragically loses his life after drowning in Gasconade River

A Mountain Grove man has been identified after a tragic drowning that took place on the Gasconade River.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Preston Jarrett, 33, was attempting to retrieve an item from the center of the Gasconade River when he reportedly went under the water surface and never resurfaced.
His body would eventually be located around a quarter-mile west of Highway E.
He was pronounced deceased one day after his disappearance at 11:26 a.m. on Friday, June 14 by Wright County Coroner Ben Hurtt.
