Friendship House now open in Mansfield

The Friendship House in Mansfield held a ribbon cutting with the Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce and an Open House on Dec. 7.

The Friendship House is a well known historical home in Mansfield.
Located at 210 W. Commercial Street, the giraffe stone home has a beautiful structure and colorful, whimisical and classy decor all year round for each holiday and season.
Current owners of the home, Richard and Jacqueline Beeson, are the third owners.
Jacqueline’s father and mother, Charlie and Sharon Lewis Davis, bought the property from Neta Seal in 1980.
Neta and Silas built the house in 1939. They ran the place as a boarding house. Neta was Laura Ingalls Wilder’s dear friend. Silas and Almanzo were best friends too. Many memories were made there between the couples over the years, including birthday parties, holidays and special events that were held there.
The present owners work hard to preserve its uniquness, while still allowing visitors to enjoy the house.
In 1992, Sharon converted it from a boarding house to a bed and breakfast.
After living in Seymour since 1991, Jacqueline and ger husband decided to move back to Mansfield to be close to her parents in 2020. Jacqueline has since transformed the house into an Airbnb with four, two-room room suites.
They are the Laura, Almonzo, Neta and Silas suites.
This transformation started in 2022 when Jacqueline and her husband actually moved into the rock house. It is where Jacqeline grew up.
They lived downstairs with one room as a salon and the upstairs being rented out to guests. Many people know Jacqueline as the owner of Design Liner, which is next door.
It was the home of Silas’s garage. That is where he and Almonzo met. Once they became friends, they introduced their wives and that is how the friendship between the two ladies began.
Turning the house into an Airbnb just made sense because of its history and build.
The name “Friendship House” originally came from Sharon because of the friendship between Neta and Laura.
