Several Hartville track and field athletes get past districts

Several Hartville track and field athletes earned top four finishes in the Class 2, District 3 meet held this past weekend in Cuba. All top four state sectional qualifiers will compete in the next round at Mountain Grove this Saturday, May 17.
The Lady Eagles were led by the relay teams featuring runners Kenzi Stigall, Kinley Cryer, Carlyn Cantrell and Jayla Ferguson.
Their 4x200-meter relay team was second place with a time of 1:54.20 and the 4x400 finished third with a time of 4:36.03.
Stigall was also second in districts in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.83 and third in the 200 meters with a time of 28.51 seconds.
Cryer finished eighth overall with a time of 2:32.29.
Meanwhile, Jayla Ferguson also qualified for sectionals by taking third in the 100 meters (13.74). She was also fifth in the 200 (29.09).
Cantrell earned a pair of seventh place finishes as she competed in the 100 (14.20) and the 800 (2:43.82).
Ava Furrow was eighth in the discus (16.84 meters).
As a team, the Lady Eagles earned 51 team points for seventh place in the team standings.
As for the Eagles, none of the boys qualified for sectionals.
Alex Parsons did finish sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.47.
Peyton Tooley was eighth place with a toss of 29.52 meters in the javelin. As a team, the Eagles finished in 14th place.
