Hartville softball has won three of four
The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team has now won three of its past four games to move their record to .500 on the season at 8-8.
They opened last week by traveling to Lebanon and leaving the larger school with an impressive 10-8 victory over the Lady Yellowjackets.
Saige Petty paced the offense with three hits and four RBIs while McKenzi Stigall tallied three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Brielle Kline had one RBI and scored twice; Maddie Brown scored twice; Gensen Culver had one RBI and scored one run; while Haddie Ward added one RBI.
Petty tossed seven innings on the mound and gave up two earned runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
In the Family Pharmacy Tournament hosted by Norwood, the Lady Eagles managed to get two wins, including one over the eventual champion, the Lady Pirates.
Petty shut down Norwood’s offense by tossing six innings and giving up no earned runs on five hits.
Peyton Dudley and Kline each had one RBI and one run scored; while Ward and Petty each had one RBI.
Norwood’s offense was led by Jaycee Hall’s one RBI. Jayden Chambers scored two runs in the loss. Maddie Campbell tossed six innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.
In a 9-8 loss to Halfway, the Lady Eagles scored three runs in their final at-bat, but could not complete the rally.
Four defensive errors hurt the team in the loss.
Dudley had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored; both Petty and Kline had one RBI and one run scored; while Ward had one RBI.
Petty tossed five innings and gave up four earned runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
