Hartville Lady Eagles take second in Vienna Invitational

The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team with their second place plaque from the Vienna Invitational.

There’s nothing like entering a tournament and leaving it with some hardware.
The Hartville Lady Eagles’ softball team did just that this past weekend when they earned a second place plaque in the Vienna Invitational after going 2-1 and moving their overall record to 5-4.
Against Waynesville, the Lady Eagles scored at least one run in four of the five innings to pick up a 9-6 victory.
Brielle Kline had two RBIs and scored one run in the win.
Claire Dickinson added two RBIs; Beyah Widner had one RBI and scored twice; McKenzi Stigall and Maddie Brown had one RBI and one run scored; while Katia Todd and Peyton Dudley each scored twice.
On the mound, Sarah Palmer tossed five innings and gave up one earned run on six hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.
Another big win in the tournament was a 10-0 defeat of St. James as Hartville scored at least one run in all five innings.
Todd had three hits, two RBIs and scored three runs in the lead-off spot. Stigall had two RBIs and scored one run; Kline had one RBI and scored twice; Ella Fairchild, Brown and Palmer each had one RBI; while Dickinson, Widner and Dudley each scored one run.
On the mound, Fairchild tossed five scoreless innings and gave up two hits with three strikeouts.
Prayers are being sought for Fairchild after she was hurt in a 5-0 loss against Vienna after reportedly suffering an injury on the mound.
She did toss five innings and gave up four earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Palmer tossed one inning and allowed one earned run on two hits.
Before the tournament, the Lady Eagles picked up a big 12-2 victory over Aurora.
Stigall hit a two-run home run and finished with four RBIs and one run scored.
Todd added two RBIs and two runs scored; Kline and Palmer each had one RBI and scored two times; Fairchild had one RBI; while Widner, Dudley, Brown and Dickinson each scored one run.
Fairchild tossed five innings and gave up two earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
