Hartville Eagles win fourth straight Clever Invite

The Hartville Eagles’ basketball team after winning their fourth straight Clever Invitational with a 75-58 win over Marshfield in the finals.
The Hartville Eagles’ basketball team won their fourth Clever Invitational championship in a row last week after sweeping their way through the annual tournament last week.
In the title tilt, Hartville cruised past large school Marshfield, 75-58.
Boone Garrison scored seven points in the opening quarter to help the Eagles take an early 18-14 lead.
Mason Cogdill scored nine points in the second to push to help offset a solid second frame by the Bluejays.
Hartville went on a 17-7 third quarter run to pull away for the win.
Cogdill scored eight points in that frame and Garrison made all six of his free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Both were named to the All-Tournament team.
Cogdill finished with 29 points; Gus Sinning had 16; Garrison added 14; Truett Coryell had five; Brock Jones and Hayden Jones scored four; and Jordan O’Quinn had three.
In the semifinals, the Eagles defeated host Clever, 49-41.
Clever’s defense held Hartville to just four points in the first quarter and 11 total points in the first half.
Down eight, the Eagles’ responded with a 19-5 third quarter run with the help of Cogdill’s nine points.
Cogdill finished with 19 points; O’Quinn had 10; Garrison scored nine; Johns had five; and both Coryell and Gus Sinning scored three.
In the opening round, an 18-8 third quarter run lifted the Eagles to a 65-37 win over Aurora.
Cogdill scored a team-high 25 points; Gus Sinning had 19; Coryell added nine; and both Johns and Garrison had six.
