Eagles have focus on making a postseason run

Hartville Eagles’ head coach Brett Reed is entering his 15th year at the district and he is getting his experienced squad ready to make a run at possibly winning their 13th district title in the past 14 seasons.
There is also an eagerness to getting back onto the court after his squad lost to eventual state champion Eugene in last year’s state sectional round.
Though Hartville lost Payton Cogdill, Jackson Ward and Harmon Johns to graduation, they have six returning players expected to put some points on the board this season for the Eagles.
All-State player Mason Cogdill returns for his senior season after leading Hartville in scoring with 15.1 points per game. He is also one of his team’s best defenders.
Senior  Boone Garrison (8.1 points per game) is also returning after an All-Summit Conference and All-District season.
Other key seniors include Gus Sinning, Jordan O’Quinn and Truett Coryell.
Junior Hayden Johns had a solid summer and will look to make an impact on the court this year.
Key newcomers include senior Brock Jones, who did not play as a junior, and Cole Sinning.
Coach Reed notes that his team will need to rely on defense and rebounding to be successful again this year.
Hartville opens its season in the 92nd Annual Clever Boys Invite from Dec. 1-6. Their first home game is Dec. 9 against Mountain Grove at 7:30 p.m.
