Christian Women Together meet, set for Sep. 21 tea party

On Saturday, Aug. 24, the Christian Woman Together met at The Grove Restaurant in Mountain Grove for breakfast. This is a new Christian women’s group dedicated to building friendships among the Christian churches of the area.
All Christian women are invited to attend and should consult the calendar in the Wright County Journal for upcoming meetings or call and leave a message at 417-926-3803.
This month’s program was informative with the objective of letting the city of Mountain Grove know this is a new and organized group of Christian women.
We were fortunate to have Becky Davis, City Administrator of Mountain Grove, as our guest speaker. She spoke about some of the exciting things happening in our community like the refurbished Square and the street light banners the Ladies of Veterans of Foreign Wars will sell for loved ones who served.
Davis outlined upcoming improvement projects such as the grant money for sewer and water to be run to Bull Dog Pike, the grant money for Lake Lily to be bermed and have a new drainage system, the widening of North Main including two roundabouts (City Hall and the overpass) by MoDot with no expense to the City, the expansion of L & R will be at the Industrial Park, and the updates for the Water Treatment Plant.
Also, it was great to hear that MoDot and the railroad are discussing the possibility of a new overpass in town. Many other projects were discussed and enthusiastic ladies wanted to know how they could help the community. Davis responded that people need to stay informed and get the facts, take a positive approach to things and know her door is always open.
Our next meeting will be hosted by the ladies of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 302 E. State Street in Mountain Grove on Saturday, Sep. 21 at 9:30 a.m. An English-style tea party will be held. Hats are encouraged.
