SCOCIC funds more than 75 household water well loans
In 2009, work began by the South Central Ozark Community Improvement Corporation (SCOCIC) staff to obtain a grant tobe used to establish and maintain a revolving loan program to provide low-interest loans for private water wells to homeowners in the seven county (Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas and Wright) region.
Since that time, the Board of SCOCIC has overseen, along with SCOCOG staff, the funding of more than 75 loans totaling approximately $730,000.
The program continues to use revolving funds to finance well loans, and has most recently reaised the maximum loan amount to $30,000 in order to offset the rising costs of well installations.
