O & C Family Nursery ready to serve customers in Mansfield

O and C Family Nursery is open and ready to serve customers in Mansfield on Highway F.

Spring has sprung once again! With birds singing, plants blooming, and the sun shining, people have begun planting. Whether it be for a hobby, themselves, others, or a business, the time has come to be outside working to make it beautiful again. One local business in this category that many may not know about is O and C Family Nursery. It all began in 2017 with the husband and wife duo, Orrin and Chantel Hughes and their family, began growing and selling herbs at local markets. Before that, they always grew a garden for themselves. They moved to Missouri from North Dakota nearly 10 years ago in 2015 and began this adventure shortly after that.
“Our inspiration for starting the nursery was two-fold,” Orrin Hughes said. “We both love plants and tree culture, and we wanted to try to live our dream of working from our home. It has been a great ride so far, and we hope to continue growing our dream into the future.”
It has now grown into a booming business. They started with herbs, including medicinal ones. Now they have added bushes, fruit trees, annuals, and perennials to their inventory.
“A big part of the reason we headed this direction with our family business was so that we could work together from home,” said Chantel Hughes. “It is also extremely rewarding, watching a happy customer pulling out of our nursery with a load of plants we produced ourselves and took pleasure in growing, for an affordable price. Our price point this season is $7.97-$25.97. We are so thankful for all of our amazing customers that are the reason we are able to ‘Grow Our Dreams,’as our motto says.”
With a business motto of “Grow Your Dreams,” they are doing just that! Their specialties include regenerative methods, a broad selection, great prices and family values. Family values definitely come into play within their business. Their marketing manager is actually their sister-in-law, Jasey Hughes, who also owns Southern Breeze Photography. Another family member has started a business out of the same location and it is called Pigeon Creek Greenhouse. This is its second year in operation.
Christians, parents to seven children, and horticulturists, Orrin and Chantel Hughes are ready to help customers in their next planting venture. They are open for spring and summer with the days and hours of operation being Mondays and Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; closed on Wednesdays; Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; closed on Saturdays, and Sundays open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with the following Sunday exceptions, closed on April 13, April 20 and June 8.
