Man drives car into Shelter Insurance agency in Grove

A vehicle went into the Shelter Insurance Agency, Deric Farran’s office, back on Friday, Dec. 20.
Sandy Farran, from Shelter Insurance in Mountain Grove, is grateful that her husband, Deric Farran, and no one else was killed or more seriously hurt when a vehicle ran into their 17th St. office back on Friday, Dec. 20.
According to Sandy, an unnamed driver was looking on his GPS traveling north on Main St. when an eyewitness saw him go at a high rate of speed as he hit the planter curb in front of Dominos, struck one of their employee’s cars, before the vehicle ricocheted into the Shelter Insurance office. Since Deric’s back is to the window, he did not see the vehicle coming towards him and into the office.
“Upon impact, Deric said it was like an explosion,” she said. “He was forced forward to the south side of his office in the corner. His desk side credenza was pushed in a way that there was a void where he landed.”
Deric suffered some glass cut abrasions on his head and hands, and was bruised with contusions on his right shoulder, elbow, hip and knee.
“Luckily, the parking lot was not full like it can be on a Friday,” she said. “There were no customers in our office, nor myself or Gracie was in the office either, just by chance as usual on Fridays. During the lunch hour, we are busy or people are in and out of our office. We would like to thank the first responders/firefighters, police, ambulance crews and concerned friends and customers. We are so grateful how quickly everyone reacted and came to the rescue..the phone calls, texts, messages and those who stop by, but most of all, we give all the glory and thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for protecting Deric this day.”
The driver did not reportedly have a medical emergency. He reportedly did break his right shoulder/arm and his nose.
The office had extensive damage to the corner I-beam, metal siding and block siding.
