William Wehrer, Jr.

William Wehrer, Jr., of Norwood, passed away on Tuesday, Feb 1, 2022 in West Plains at the age of 77.  Junior was born in Brush, Colo.. to William Sr. and Annie Wehrer on July 17, 1944. He was the youngest of eight children. He served in the United States Army for two years, and during that time he was stationed in Vietnam. Junior worked as a corrections officer for the Department of Corrections before retiring after 20 years. He was also a member of the Norwood Masonic Lodge for over 40 years. Junior enjoyed spending his time outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing or just riding around on his golf cart at the lake. After he retired, he enjoyed his days up at the shop with the guys and spending time with Mable. They enjoyed their trips to the casinos, cruises and summer vacations they went on with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren. Junior is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mable, of just short of 54 years. They were married in Mansfield on Feb. 16, 1968.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Annie; his sisters, Vivian and Pearl; his brothers, Donnie, Larry and Johnny; and his in-laws, John and Lela. Junior is survived by his wife, Mable; his daughter, Tammy and her husband, Wesley; his son, Chris and his wife, Michelle; his sisters, Lilian and Marge, of Easley, S.C.; his granddaughters, Brianna and Brooke; his grandsons, Tyler and Brayden; his great granddaughter, Aubree; and a host of many other family members and close friends. The family of William wishes to extend our sincere thanks to his VA providers, the doctors and nursing staff at Cox Health, Autumn Oaks, NHC Nursing Home and Three Rivers Hospice.
