Wilder Day plans coming together

Posted

During a Wilder Day Committee meeting held through Zoom video conferencing, plans were discussed for Wilder Day, which is set to be held Friday-Saturday, Oct. 9-10 on the grounds of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum.

One item noted is this year, the parking area at the Rock House will not be used.

It was noted that vendors, entertainment, etc. will be at the Wilder Home and Museum grounds.

A parade will be held even if Wilder Day is canceled.

The route for the parade has yet to be determined and registration for the parade participants will be posted.

More information will follow with the committee’s next post as information becomes available.

Activities the committee have set so far include Little Laura/Farmer Boy Look Alike contest; children’s games; a petting zoo; Morgan horses; demonstrations on old time crafts; entertainment Friday night and Saturday night; plus the Fiddle Off Contest to be held on Saturday, Oct. 10.

This will be held on the grounds of the Wilder Home and Museum.

Applications will be sent out to vendors.

Vendor fees will be refunded in the event Wilder Day is canceled by the Wilder Day Committee due to the COVID-19 virus.

The committee will post the final determination June 11, if Wilder Day 2020 is to be canceled.
