Veta Jane (Ragain) Clark

Veta Jane (Ragain) Clark went to her heavenly reward on Jan. 19, 2021. Veta was born on Aug. 31, 1927, in Huggins, to Luther and Bertha (Tate) Ragain. Veta was the oldest of seven siblings. She was 93 years young. Veta was happily married to Amiel Clark for many, many years and out of their union they had one son, Kirby Clark. As a family, they spent their lives together in Mountain Grove. Veta walked to work at Brown Shoe Company for over 20 years. She also worked at the Mountain Grove Senior Center for several years. Veta was a kind, gentle-hearted person who never had a bad word to say about anyone. Her legacy is one of a true belief in Jesus and His Word, hard work, kindness, a smile for everyone and gentleness like no other. She was a true friend. Veta was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Amiel Clark; her parents, Luther and Bertha Ragain; and two siblings, Verna Turner and Milburn Ragain. Veta is survived by her son, Kirby Clark, of Mountain Grove; her siblings, Vera Spencer, of Wichita, Kan.; Mervin Ragain and his wife, Elaine, of Wichita, Kan.; Venetta Koontz, of Mountain Grove; and Marlin Ragain and his wife, Dora, of Gladstone; and many nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed. Visitation for Veta Clark was held Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church in Mountain Grove. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at 10 a.m., also at the church, with Pastor Matthew Todd and Kirby Clark officiating. Vocal selections were “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Momma Loved The Roses” sung by Roy Bond. Other musical selection was “When I Go Away” recorded by Kirby Clark. Roy Bond, Wendall Yarger, Eric Ragain, Lou Lewis and Duane Sherrell served as pallbearers. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
