Two fatalities in area vehicle accidents

There were two fatalities this week in area accidents. On Oct.3, a 9-year-old male was killed in a one vehicle accident that took place on 13th Rd., just one mile west of Mountain Grove.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report, Gabriel Ruiz, 31, of Mountain Grove, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado westbound when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, struck a dirt embankment and overturned, partially ejected the juvenile. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ruiz was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains. Both the driver and passenger were reportedly not wearing a safety device.

On Oct. 9, Aaron Stanley, 39, of West Plains was killed in an accident involving his 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle. According to the crash report, Stanley was traveling eastbound on Business 60, three miles east of Mountain Grove, when he ran off the roadway, impacted the ground, overturned and struck a utility pole. Stanley was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
