Three Norwood archers represented the Pirates’ archery team in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) World Tournament held in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

At the high school level, Christopher Edwards shot a 277 to finish ninth place overall among his fellow 11th grade competitors.

He was also ranked 60th for high school archers and 81st overall in the boys competition.

At the Middle School level, Bradly Allen shot a 266 to finish in 16th place for sixth grade archers. He was also ranked 60th for Middle School and took 171st overall for the boys competition.

Christopher Allen shot a 263 to finish 30th amongst the eighth graders at the World Tournament.

He also was 71st for Middle School archers and finished 192nd overall in the boys competition.

“Anyone can have a good day now and then, but to be consistent enough to make it to a world competition takes a lot of hard work,” Norwood coach Aleth Rogers. “It’s a long season. We start in the fall and we just completed our last tournament Saturday, but it doesn’t stop there. These kids continue to practice throughout the summer, preparing for next year. We didn’t pull out any big wins at the world championships, but to say that you are among the best of the best is no small task. I am so proud of these kids.”
