The Farmer’s Wife dispensary opens in Mountain Grove

Posted

In 2018, Missouri voters legalized cannabis for medicinal consumption.

The amendment’s passage began a two year process of investors wanting to open up medical marijuana dispensaries in southwest Missouri.

That vision became a reality in Mountain Grove this month with the opening of The Farmer’s Wife on 20th St.

The 2,400-3,600 sq. ft. medical marijuana dispensary is operated by residents of southwest Missouri, led by Springfield native and Director of Retail David Brodsky.

Brodsky spent 10 years working at dispensaries in California and Colorado before returning home to takeover the retail director position.

He is also assisting in operations at The Farmer’s Wife facility that opened on April 20 in West Plains as well as a planned location in Springfield opening likely in late July.

Brodsky said all of the employees live in the Springfield area. He noted there are eight people working out of the Mountain Grove location with plans to reach a dozen in the future.

With a focus on offering deliveries as well as opening up a drive thru at a later date, the employment number could reach between 20-25.

Potential plans also include allowing customers to call in their orders in advance to have them available for pickup through a drive thru.

“It will be good for those who have trouble getting out of a car,” Brodsky noted.

Store Manager Alex Stewart is a Class of 2008 Mountain Grove graduate. Before making this move in his career, he previously worked as general manager of the Pizza Hut just one building over. Stewart is embracing the opportunity to help others with the array of products and options available at The Farmer’s Wife.

“I’ve been excited to watch the change in people’s lives,” he noted. “To see people who need it, benefit from it. It’s a rewarding feeling.”

The dispensary offers a wide array of medical marijuana products and accessories. They range from old school pre-rolled items to edibles, capsules and so much more.

They also have a partnership with Kaleidoscope, a head shop that has been open in Springfield since 1972.

“It speaks to our local commitment,”Brodsky added.

Brodsky said many people who are customers use medical cannabis as a replacement for traditional pharmaceuticals.

He said those wanting to get a medical marijuana are encouraged to seek assistance through Ayden’s Alliance, a nonprofit group in West Plains, as well as Dr. Roark, a cannabis advocate based in Cassville.

The Farmer’s Wife mission is to “relieve suffering in the communities we serve by making exceptional medicinal cannabis products available to all.”

Since opening, Brodsky noted that the Mountain Grove community has provided a warm welcoming.

“I expect it to only get better from here,” he noted. The Farmer’s Wife recently joined the Mountain Grove Chamber of Commerce. Brodsky said the focus is to be invested in the community, though many dispensaries take the opposite approach with the way they run their businesses. Marketing and branding came through Supper out of Springfield. As for security, The Farmer’s Wife has armed security. The products are also secured in a concrete vault. The dispensary is open seven days a week from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. They can be visited online at farmerswife.co. For more information, call 417-512-9111.
