Taylor wins Summit title, Hartville CC gets three runners to qualify for Class 2 state

The Hartville boys and girls cross country program had three total runners earn Top-30 finishes to qualify for this Saturday’s Class 2 state championships in Columbia.

The girls were led by Clemmie Taylor, who took third place overall in the Class 2, District 2 race.

Other runners included Rileigh Sinning (24:28.28), Abby Moseley (24:40.16), Lucie Taylor (24:42.62) and Kaylee Ferguson (24:53.99). Hartville was fifth in the team standings.

Two Eagles also advanced to state. Logan Simpson was 24th (18:35.50) and Zachary Jones was 25th (18:36.91).

Other runners included Jacob Ballard (19:15.49), Caleb Long (19:52.35), Harley Dumas (20:29.77), Lane Hughes (20:44.02) and Ty Smith (21:28.30). As a team, Hartville was sixth place overall.

Before that race, the cross country program competed in the Summit Conference race held at Conway.

Clemmie Taylor won the individual conference title after finishing the race with a time of 21:25.70.

Ferguson was 11th (25:08.20), Taylor took 12th (25:21.00), Sinning was 13th (25:23.30) and Moseley placed 14th overall (25:36.10).

The Lady Eagles finished runner-up in the team standings, falling to Mansfield by just 10 points.

Jones led the Eagles with a solid third place finish after completing the race with a time of 18:51.10.

Ballard was 10th overall with a time of 19:29.10. Simpson was 12th (19:47.70), Long took 14th (20:26.80), Dumas was 18th (20:49.60) and Smith took 20th (20:56.90).

Other runners included Lane Hughes (21:51.40), Ryan Alexander (23:20.20), Alex Parsons (23:30.30) and Jacob Show (24:43.40).

In the team standings for the Summit Conference race held in Conway, the Eagles took second place overall with 53 team points.

Fordland won the team title.
