Two suspects are now in custody after attempting to evade police and for shooting a weapon at Wright County deputy’s vehicle.

Wright County Sheriff Sonny Byerley said the incident took place on Sunday, Feb. 6 just after 10 p.m. when a Mountain Grove officer attempted to pull a vehicle over for a minor vehicle infraction.

It was then discovered that the vehicle was known to be associated with drug trafficking.

Wright County Deputy Charlie Brown took over the pursuit within City limits.

Suspects took off at a high rate of speed driving on S. Highway 95 when the suspects discharged multiple shots at Deputy Brown’s vehicle, with one bullet striking his windshield when the pursuit was in the area of Highway AD.

The suspects were able to get away when Deputy Brown lost sight of the vehicle.

The vehicle later found unoccupied just off a county road and Highway EE.

The multi-jurisdiction manhunt ended in Douglas County when the male and female suspects were found walking a short distance away.

Taken into custody just after midnight were Bobby Naylor, 28, of Mountain Grove, and Breanna Wallace, 28, of Norwood. No one was injured in the shooting.

“I want to thank Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain Grove PD, Missouri Highway Patrol and the Missouri Department of Conservation for the quick apprehension of the two suspects,” Sheriff Byerley said.

Sheriff Byerley added that “this is an ongoing investigation and more details will come as the investigation reveals more facts of this incident.”
