Steven Leon Sartor

Steven Leon Sartor, son of the late William D. and Florence Jane (Hovey) Sartor, was born Jan. 25, 1955, in Moline, Ill., and departed this life Oct. 23, 2020, at Mercy in Springfield. He was 65 years, 8 months and 28 days of age. Steve graduated from Mountain Grove High School with the Class of 1972. He married Cheryl Hurst on July 22, 1983, in Hartville. Steve owned his own semi and had a nearly forty year career as an over-the-road trucker. Steve also enjoyed working on his farm where he raised beef cattle. In his spare time, he liked to fish, deer hunt, and collect classic cars. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren. 

Steve was preceded in death by one brother, Lonnie Sartor. He is survived by his loving wife of their home, Cheryl; four children, Shawn Sartor (Kelly), of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Brian Sartor (Maghan), of Prior, Okla.; Robin Mitchell (Bobby), of Lafayette, Ind.; and Billy Nungesser (Felicia), of Norwood; eight grandchildren, Austin, Kaylee and Jaycee Friend; Baylee and Tucker Nungesser; David and Anakin Sartor and Ryan Wagner; two brothers, Jim Sartor, of Mountain Grove, and Terry Sartor (Tracy), of Ava; and other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Graveside services for Steve Sartor will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. John Bray officiating. Song selections are “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Burial will be in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.  Memorial contributions may be made to Lone Star Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
