Shirley Ann (Hosbein) Cozort, of Mountain Grove, departed this life Feb. 7, 2021, at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 7 days.
Shirley was born Dec. 31, 1935 in St. Joseph, Mich., to Earl and Cordelia (Wetmore) Hosbein. She was one of six children. She had two brothers and one sister who lived to adulthood, and two siblings that passed away very young. She married Russell Borden Cozort on July 2, 1954, in Benton Harbor, Mich. To this union were born four children, Keith, Kathryn, Kevin and Kimberly. They also fostered Hope King for a time. Shirley was a full-time homemaker for many years. In addition, she worked as a teacher’s aid at Pine Trails Elementary School in Allegan, Mich., for a couple of years. In her later years, she worked at and retired from Publix Supermarkets in Gainesville, Fla. She was baptized as a teenager into the Church of Christ and remained an active member all her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 ½ years, Russell; her parents; and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Keith (Cheryl) Cozort, of Mountain Grove; Kevin Cozort, of Mountain Grove; her daughters, Kathryn (Jim) Holway, of Miami, Fla.; Kimberly Jackson, of Cordova, Tenn.; son-in-law, Bobby Jackson, of Bartlett, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Adam (Shea) Cozort, Nathan (Ashley) Cozort, Aaron (Edy) Cozort, Kristi (Blake) Bond, Sarah (Bryan) Kelly, Jeremy Holway, Blair (Jim) Thomas, Brooke (William) Clay and Brett (Allan) Sisson; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her.
A Memorial Visitation was held at Mountain Grove Church of Christ on Monday, Feb., 8, 2021. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the spring at the Morriston Cemetery in Morriston, Ark. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Grove Church of Christ Library.
