Beloved son, big brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Shawn Dennis Hume, entered this world on June 13, 1991, in Springfield, the first son of Darren and Sherlyn (Gallion) Hume. He departed this life for his Heavenly Father’s home on Jan. 23, 2021. He was 29 years young. A graduate of the Mansfield High School Class of 2009, Shawn was well-liked by all who knew him. He was baptized in Mansfield Christian Church at the age of 12 by Bro. Doug Cage. Shawn grew up in the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Life. He wrote poetry, read books, collected knives, listened to music and played video games online with his friends.
Shawn was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dennis Hume, and Linda and David Shanks; maternal grandmother, Etta (Hamilton) Gallion; niece, Piper; and several great-aunts and -uncles. Shawn is survived by his parents, Darren and Sherlyn Hume, of Fordland; his brother, Darren K.D. Hume and his wife, Shyann; his maternal grandfather Richard Gallion; his aunts, Jennifer Emerick, and Kayla Gallion, both of Seymour, and great-aunts, Geraldine Cook, of Seymour, and Janice Stott and husband, David, of the state of Texas; and his uncle Rich Gallion, of Warrensburg; he was the very proud uncle of Walker Hume; and a loyal cousin to Kourtney Laughlin and her husband, Chad; Kelsey Mincks and her husband, Cody; and cousins, Kaley, Wyatt, Jenna , Zoey, Addi, Jayden, J.D., Sebastian, Katarina, Hannah, Madison, Braiden and Joe. His friendship will forever be treasured by Chad, Ginger and Will. Shawn will be sadly and dearly missed by all those blessed enough to know and love him.
