Santa’s reindeer greets customers at local Vanzant ranch

Posted

A dream that started with a tour of a reindeer farm five years ago became a reality two weekends ago when the Prescott family opened their own Christmas venue, the Holly Jolly Reindeer Ranch in Vanzant. Sara Prescott said prior to opening the ranch, both she and her husband Michael had used different methods over the years to teach kids about farm life.

After moving from Springfield, Ill. two years ago, there was no doubt the Prescotts wanted to see their vision with reindeer become a reality.

“We just want (to give customers) the Christmas experience,” Sara Prescott added.

The Holly Jolly Reindeer Ranch is highlighted by the presence of Santa’s reindeer, Tinsel and Noel.

Those going to the location will also have a chance to visit with Santa Claus, see many other animals (llamas, alpacas and mini ponies), enjoy crafts in Santa’s Workshop and take part in reindeer games. There is also a professional photo area and several places for photo opportunities. Some kids may also sit down and write out their Letter to Santa to mail to the North Pole in time for Christmas.

Mrs. Claus’ Bakery also has hot cocoa, cookies and lunch items.

The Holly Jolly Reindeer Ranch is open Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sundays noon-4 p.m. The venue is a cash only location. The Prescotts encourage visitors to see the reindeer before they take to the skies on Christmas Eve. For information, call 815-228-0336.
