Ruth Lee (Sowersby) Prock

Ruth Lee (Sowersby) Prock, daughter of the late Lewis and Minnie (Leighty) Sowersby, was born Dec. 10, 1930, in Huggins, and passed away Dec. 7, 2020, at Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield. She was 89 years, 11 months and 28 days of age. Ruth grew up in the Huggins area and attended Alice School, a little rural one-room schoolhouse. She married Farris Newton Prock on Dec. 4, 1959. They lived in Manes for a while until moving to Lynchburg. Farris passed away Dec. 23, 1995. After Farris’ passing, Ruth later moved to Springfield, where she resided until her passing. Ruth enjoyed cake decorating and making quilts. Besides her parents and her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by one brother, George Dean Sowersby, and by an infant sister. She is survived by one sister, Mable Mahon, of Fort Worth, Texas; eight nephews; one niece; and other relatives and friends who will miss her very much. Graveside services Ruth Prock were held Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mountain Grove, with the Rev. Junior Vaughn officiating.  Song selections were “I’ll Fly Away” and “Amazing Grace.” Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
