Ruby Jane Buttram

Ruby Jane Buttram, daughter of Gerson and Verby (Lowery) Climer, was born Feb. 6, 1935 in Wright County, Missouri. She departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021 at Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Washington, Mo. at the age of 86 years and 11 days.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Bob; two brothers, Jason and Johnny Claimer; and two sisters, Gladys Weaver and Dessie Edwards. Ruby is survived by her children, Waldo Buttram, of Mountain Grove; Wallace Buttram, of Hartville; Chester Buttram and his wife, Dixie, of Hartville; and Helen Connell and her husband, John, of Union; seven grandchildren, Dodey, Johnny, Dean, Chester, Jr., JC, Rita and Landon; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ruby lived almost all her life in Wright County in Hartville and Grovespring. She worked for the post office, ASC office and cleaned homes for many friends in the area. She loved the farm life and working cattle. Ruby had made a profession of faith in Christ and had attended Little Vine Freewill Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting with family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and caring neighbor and friend. Ruby had a helping hand for anyone who needed it. We will miss her dearly but we’ll always cherish the wonderful memories we had with her. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021 at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Hartville with minister Dodey Buttram. Musical selections included “I’ll Fly Away” by Allison Krauss, “Old Rugged Cross” by Alan Jackson and “Angels Among Us” by Alabama.

The escorts were family. The final resting place was in the Little Vine Cemetery in Hartville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Little Vine Cemetery through Holman-Howe Funeral Home, P. O. Box 236, Hartville, Mo. 65667.
