Roy Kay Dennis

Roy Kay Dennis, son of Ural and Lela Tripp Dennis, was born March 28, 1942 in Mansfield and departed this Dec. 29, 2020 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 1 day. He was united in marriage to Patsy Lee Cook on Dec. 7, 1963 and to this union a daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wally Dennis; and a sister, Jean Honeycutt.

Kay is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy; daughter, Kima Harris and husband, Scott; two grandsons, Dustin Clark and wife, Rheanna, and Ryan Harris and wife, Jen, all of Mansfield; six great-grandchildren, Lily, Faith, Jaxon, Dakota, Rylee and Ronan; sister-in-law, Loreta “Pat” Dennis, of Mansfield; nephews, Bruce and Allen Honeycutt, Jeff and Stan Dennis, Joe, Austin, Lakin and John Bogart; niece, Linda Honeycutt; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a host of other relatives and many, many friends. He was born, raised and lived his entire in Mansfield. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School in the Class of 1960. He had worked for Webster Hydro Propane, co-owned and operated Western Auto and C & D Gas Company and was the owner/operator of Kay Dennis Auto Sales for 35 years. Kay had made a profession of faith in Christ many years ago and was a member and elder of the Mansfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed NASCAR and watching the grandkids play sports. Kay was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend.  We celebrate his life and will always treasure the many great and fun times we had together.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 at Holman-Howe Chapel in Mansfield with the Rev. Nick DeRosa and the Rev. Larry Scott. Music was from Clayton Kelly along with Larry and Barbara Scott. Escorts were Dustin Clark, Ryan Harris, Scott Harris, Zach Miller, Joe Bogart and Austin Bogart. The honorary escort was Jaxon Clark. The final resting place was in the Mansfield Cemetery.
