Ronald Lee Schott, Sr., 78, of Mountain Grove, Mo., went home to be with the Lord early on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at the residence of his son, Ronald Lee Schott, Jr., and his wife, Kristy, in Mountain Grove.
He was born Nov. 25, 1942 in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Schott and the late Christine Emma Brandt Schott. He began his seven year service in the U.S. military at 17, spending time with the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. This includes time served with Special Forces. He would marry Kay (Warner) Schott in 1968, and to this union was born one son, Ronald Lee Schott, Jr. In 1991, he married Nancy Scruggs Schott. It was then he added two stepchildren, Jay Scruggs and Michele Scruggs (Lowe). The couple were together until Nancy's death in 2017.
His hobbies included watching old television shows like "The Lone Ranger," "Gunsmoke" and "Little House on the Prairie." He was also a big fan of both the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles. As a child, he received a music scholarship playing the violin with The Peabody Institute in the Baltimore, Md. area. When he was older, he earned a Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) pro card. Throughout his life, he was a man who never met a stranger. He was very outgoing and he always put a smile on your face. He always cared for others and put others first. During his time in the work force, he was known by many for his time spent at Thompson Steel, Dutterer's Home Food Service and Site Support Services. In his later years, he worked in Hampstead, Md. at Weis Markets and Jiffy Mart.
He is survived by one son, Ronald Lee Schott Jr. and wife, Kristy, with their children Dylan, Isaiah, Josiah and Lydia; one stepson, Jay Scruggs, and his wife, Candace, and their children, Ivan and Harper; and one stepdaughter, Michele Scruggs (Lowe) and her daughter, Samantha Reichert. His great grandchildren include Devin Wean and Alyssa King. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Nancy Scruggs Schott; and siblings, David Schott, Dennis Schott, Kenneth Schott, Theodore Schott, Evelyn Franks, Ella Smith and Jean Sullivan.
Inurnment with a private family service will take place at a later date at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, Md. No local service has been scheduled per his request. Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Mountain Grove is handling the local arrangements.
