Robert McQuiddy

Robert McQuiddy was born on Feb. 8, 1976, and passed away on Nov. 16, 2021 in Hemet, Calif., at the age of 45. He graduated from Mountain Grove High school in 1995 and went on to join the Navy in 1999. Robert served as a Mineman and achieved the rank of Senior Chief at the time of his passing. Robert’s dedication to his shipmates and fleet extended beyond his every day duties. To better the process, improve safety requirements and further the education and knowledge of the Mineman rating, Robert had rewritten the knowledge manual that is utilized to train and educate at the Mineman training school. Robert had also redefined and updated the training and knowledge requirements for the Mineman promotion exams. Sought out for his expertise, he had served on as many as three ships at one time; USS Guardian, USS Patriot and USS Warrior. Robert was due to retire on Dec. 31, 2021. He served this country for 22 years and the served it well. Robert is survived by his wife, Christina McQuiddy; and three stepchildren, Courtney, Amber and Austin Saunders, of Menifee, Calif.; as well as his parents, Clay and Sue McQuiddy, of Graff; his grandparents, Billy and Ivy McQuiddy, of Austin, Texas; his brother, Steve McQuiddy, and niece, Bailey McQuiddy, of Mountain Grove; his sister, Erica McQuiddy and her wife, Cass Neuhaus, and their daughter, Nova McQuiddy-Neuhaus, of Bixby, Okla.

He is also survived by his two sons, William McQuiddy and Seth McQuiddy, and their mother, Melissa McQuiddy, of Pamona, Calif.; William and Seth are following in their father’s footsteps in service to this country. William will soon be leaving for basic training in the USAF. Seth will be attending college in North Carolina at Chapel Hill this fall, and upon completion, will be going into the USMC as a 2nd Lieutenant. Robert was proud of their decisions to serve this country. Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Mary Bailey; and his grandmother, Sybil Daniel. Robert was a loving husband, father, son, brother and loved his military brothers and sisters. He enjoyed riding his Harley, camping with his family and loved working on the vintage VW bug he completely restored and sold. He also found time to support charities he held dear, the Wounded Warrior Project and the RADY Children’s Hospital were two of them. Robert had a hilarious sense of humor and could leave you in stitches when telling a joke. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Robert was such a blessing to our family. Robert was laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. on Jan. 11, 2022, with full military honors.
