Robert “Bob” Linback, son of the late Virgil and Ione Linback-Myers was born Sep. 15, 1953, in Rensselaer, Ind., and passed away on Sep. 16, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was 68 years and 1 day of age. Bob graduated from Rensselaer Central High School in 1972, married Debra McIntyre in 1974 and joined the McIntyre farming operation. In 1984, the Walkin’ M Ranch was purchased in Mountain Grove, and the beef cattle operation was moved from Indiana.  While raising cattle, Bob also worked at Peterson Gravel and Ready Mix. In 2009, Bob and Debbie moved from Mountain Grove to Nixa to be closer to their grandchildren, Raegan and Alex. They were grandpa’s world and he loved attending their sporting events. Bob was a loyal Cubs fan, despite the ribbing from the family Cardinal fans. He loved to play golf until his health caused him to give it up. Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother; his stepfather, Mike Myers; brothers, Fred and Steve Linback; and sister, Suzy Carter.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie; daughter, Shannon (Lin) Thomason; son, Kyle Linback; and grandchildren, Raegan and Alex Thomason, of all Nixa. He is also survived by brothers, Jim (Susan) Linback, of California; Rick (Nancy) Linback, of North Dakota; and David Linback, of California, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. A Celebration of Life reception will be held in Mountain Grove on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, from 1-4 p.m. at the Shetler’s Event Center, located at 3099 Missouri 95 Highway. A second reception will be held in Rensselaer, Indiana, in later October. Details are still pending. In lieu flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 to thank them for the two heart valves they provided to Bob. Cremation was under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove. Online condolences: www.craighurttfuneralhome.com.
