Richard Dale Shaw was born Oct. 21, 1949, to John Richard and Wilma May (Hayes) Shaw near Mountain Grove in Wright County, Missouri. He was called Home to be with his Heavenly Father on Oct. 12, 2022 near Buena Vista in Chaffee County, Colo. He grew up in Mountain Grove and graduated from high school in May 1967. Richard worked in several cities in Missouri and Kansas. As an adult, he moved to Texas to work with his cousins in construction. There, he met his future wife, Debbie Noack. They were married May 25, 1983 in Mountain Grove.

One gift Richard received with his marriage to Debbie was a daughter, Dana Lynn Hall. They were also blessed with a son, Richard Derek Joseph Shaw, on April 29, 1985. In 2016, he left Texas and moved to Buena Vista, Colo. and stayed with a relative there. Richard was a jack-of-all trades.

He formed Richard's Handyman Service in Colorado and always had work to do. He never met a stranger, made friends easily and always made lasting memories. He loved to travel and enjoyed road trips. He really enjoyed camping and riding his ATV in the mountains. The beauty there never got old to him. He loved watching football, spending time with his son, Derek, and his grandchildren and Richard's family.

He came back to Missouri and visited Texas as often as he could. Since he lived in Colorado, he spent a lot of time on phone calls with his family and friends- both old and new- catching up and sharing memories of times together. Richard loved  food - Lucy's Cashew Chicken, Homemade Chicken and Noodles and stuffing, Banana Pudding, and Pizza Hut Pizza.

Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings was always a favorite and he wanted enough for lots of leftovers. He will be missed at our table this year. His family and friends will always remember his great sense of humor, even in the bad times. He gave his life to Christ as a boy.

But life and choices led him down another path, full of pain. While living in Texas, in the middle of a traumatic series of events, Richard received forgiveness and turned all his life back to Christ. When talking to Richard, you soon learned of his love and dedication to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The inscription he wanted on his headstone is “He stumbled. He fell, but with the help of His Heavenly Father and his sense of humor, he got back up.”

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma; his father, John; and three sisters, Janell (Shaw) Milton, Laura Shaw and LaVonna (Shaw) Smith. Richard is survived by his daughter, Dana Lynn Hall, of Houston, Texas; son, Derek and wife, Karissa; and five grandchildren, Lillian, Jaxon, Steven, Aubrey and Abigail, of Spring, Texas; three sisters, Sharon and husband, Scott Brown, of Lebanon; Linda Shaw and Wanda Noel, of Mountain Grove; two brothers, Ron and wife, Connie, of Cabool, and Steve and wife, Susie Shaw, of Cuba; nephews, nieces, great nieces and great-nephews, cousins and many other family and friends who will greatly miss his contagious laugh and smile. Graveside services are set for Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at Dutch Chapel Cemetery near Manes.
