It was officially a storybook ending for a Fresno, Calif. couple who visited the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home on Monday, July 19 when a marriage proposal was followed with a one word answer, “Yes.”

Stewart Kukowski called ahead on Tuesday, July 13 looking for the best place to pop the question to his now fiancé, Michele Garcia.

All of the docents agreed that the best place for the big moment was the front porch of the Laura Ingalls Wilder home.

On the big day, the couple flew to Springfield, rented a car and made their way to Rocky Ridge Farm, just outside of Mansfield, to tour the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

After arriving early, the couple toured the homes, enjoyed lunch and stayed for the entire day reading and looking through artifacts in the gallery.

In going up to the house one more time, Stewart made his proposal to Michelle on the front porch of the farmhouse around 4:30 p.m. She said, “Yes.”

The couple first met in 1985 on a blind date at a bowling alley. They became serious three years ago and have been reportedly inseparable ever since.

In Stewart’s own words, “...Thank you for making this dream become a storybook ending.”
