What a difference a week made for the Mountain Grove Panthers boys basketball team.
One week earlier, Mountain Grove helped Ava improve their record to 15-3 on the season with a loss in their own tournament to the rival Bears.
Fortunately, that game did not count in the SCA Conference standings.
One week later, the Panthers found a way to avenge that loss as they picked up a 67-52 victory over a stunned Bears team last Tuesday.
Mountain Grove had a 28-point fourth quarter as they made 17-of-19 free throws to seal the win. Gavin Charlton made two big third quarter 3-pointers.
Kaden Bruce made 10-of-11 free throws in the fourth and finished with a team-high 25 points. Bryze Stenzel tallied 16 points; Charlton had 10 points; Jase Dowden had 10 points; Tyson Elliott had four points; and Hollen Glenn scored two points.
The Panthers then ended the week with a physical game in Cabool. They left the Bulldogs’ gym with a 56-48 victory to move their conference record to 3-0.
Bruce led the Panthers with 16 points; Dowden had 14; Elliott had eight points; Charlton had 10 points; and Stenzel scored five points.
