Panthers hang tough with Thayer early, but fall late

Posted

The Mountain Grove Panthers football team traveled to Thayer to take on the No. 3 team in Class 1 last Friday night, and through a little more than two quarters, went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the state.

The game was tied at 14-14 after the Panthers scored an early third quarter touchdown. Unfortunately, turnovers, a few missed calls from officials and execution issues on defense led to Thayer scoring 29 unanswered points to win the game, 43-14.

Thayer had 230 yards rushing and 93 in the air for 323 total yards of offense in the win. Mountain Grove’s offense had 145 yards passing and 49 on the ground for 194.
